My wife Julie and I were married in St. Francis Xavier Parish on December 15, 1973. A couple of years later I entered the Catholic Church being confirmed and receiving the First Eucharist. I first became involved in ministry with St. Francis Xavier as an usher. After an impassioned plea for help with Religious Education, I became and R.E. teacher and volunteer for ten years. During my R.E. volunteering, I was asked to chaperone for the youth group going to the World Youth Day in Denver. I went with a rather large group from St. Francis Xavier and the Missoula Deanery. It was an inspiring and exhausting week with all those young people. The final day with the vigil Mass and the morning Mass with Pope John Paul II and the million other people in Cherry Creek Park was a life changing experience.
I attended diocesan lay ministry classes in Kalispell and year after that I was accepted into the deacon formation program for the diocese. Four years later I was ordained a deacon for the diocese with my ministry at St. Francis Xavier Church. After a career of thirty-seven years as a grocer, I was hired as the parish administrator in January 2002. Having retired from that position on December 31st of 2015, I look forward to many years of active ministry as a deacon here at St. Francis Xavier.
