My name is Ted Childs, I was raised in Butte, and attended college in Helena where I met my wife, Anita. We were married in June of 1967, we have 4 children, one boy Ted Jr., and 3 girls, Gwen, Kristel, and Debbie. We have 10 grandchildren ranging in ages of 4 to 22.
My wife and I retired in 2008 and started working as work campers, we spent four years working in Yellowstone Park and 6 years working for Kamp Grounds of America (KOA).
I have spent the last 10 winters as a snowbird in Arizona. After my wife passed away in December of 2019, I decided to return to Montana.
I was ordained to the diaconate on October 21st 1979 in the diocese of Helena. After serving in two parishes in Montana my work transferred me to the Seattle area. I joined a new parish in Covington, Washington and served in that parish for 21 years before I started spending my winters in Arizona. I was fortunate that the diocese of Phoenix allowed me to serve as a snowbird Deacon while I was there.
I am glad to be back “HOME” and I am looking forward to being a part of this community of St. Francis Xavier.
