Spirituality and S.E.E.L.

Stated Purpose:

The purpose of the SFX Spirituality Commission is to facilitate and carry on the tradition of the Jesuit charism of our parish, specifically through the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius and its adaptations, and in so doing provide opportunities for grace and spiritual development to those individuals seeking to more fully live as authentic human beings in the presence of an infinitely loving Creator God. In addition this purpose will unfold specifically and positively through the ongoing work of Jesuit and Lay Collaboration.

Current Activities:

  • Offer the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola in a variety of forms:
    • Mark Link’s Challenge 2000 Program
    • The Spiritual Exercises in Everyday Life Retreat, S.E.E.L.;
    • Ignatian Retreats and Days of Prayer
    • On-going Spiritual Direction;
    • Preparation and on-going formation of Spiritual Directors.

Goals for 2017:

  • To profess, encourage and support programs already in place.
  • To identify and address the individual and communal spiritual needs and desires of parishioners:
    • Develop an information space in the vestibules for info on parish Ignatian Spirituality Programs and opportunities throughout the year.
    • Continue an active presence at the annual Ministry Fair & Parish Picnic.
  • To provide and support an integrated experience for all parishioners by working cooperatively with other Parish Commissions, specifically, Faith Formation, Parish Life, Liturgy and Social Justice.
  • To encourage an expanded focus by responding to the expressed needs of the faithful as delineated by ongoing communication and conversation with the parish community. For example, providing days of prayer for specific groups such as Parish Council, Commissions, Youth,Couples.
  • To continue and support outreach, offering days of prayer/retreats to the greater Western Montana Faith Community.
  • To develop 4 to 5 week small group retreats based on the Spiritual Exercises.
