Our Social Justice Group (Just Faith) recently hosted a dinner for the SEEL directors which combined a great meal with our second in a series of listening sessions. Discussions surrounded the questions:
- what social issues are important to you and why?
- how do you think our parish is currently addressing those issues?
- if we aren’t currently doing so, how do you think we can address them in the future?
Thanks to those who participated and shared their ideas. Data will be compiled from area congregations by the Missoula Interfaith Collaborative and used to better work toward meeting the needs of the community.
Kino Border Project
Our Just Faith group organized a collection for the Kino Border Project, and raised over $3300 for unaccompanied children at our southern borders. We also shipped 56 pounds of small personal care items to be used by migrants in Nogales Arizona awaiting deportation back to Sonora, Mexico.

What is Just Faith?
JustFaith is a program that provides opportunities for individuals to study and be formed by the justice tradition articulated by the Scriptures, the Church’s historical witness, theological inquiry and Catholic social teaching. JustFaith Ministries programs help individuals experience conversion, integrating their personal spirituality with social commitment.
A nine month program, Just Faith uses books, videos, discussion and prayer, guest speakers, immersion experiences and community building to empower participants to develop a passion and thirst for justice and to express this passion in concrete acts of social ministry in their parish or church and in the community at large.
St Francis Xavier has an existing group that has combined the participants of two previous years into an ongoing small faith community. If you are interested, please contact me at 542-0321 ext. 106. For more information, you can go to Just Faith.
